The national pro-life community is rejoicing at Tuesday’s revelation that Planned Parenthood has lost the hefty financial support of the Susan J. Komen foundation, the “pink ribbon” organization self-described as leading the war against breast cancer. (see lifenews.com for many stories on this)
Yet Komen had been defeating their stated mission all along by denying the abortion-breast cancer link while funding the nation’s top abortion business. So please understand that,
- while Komen has taken a positive step to sever ties with Planned Parenthood, the official statement has NOT been that they have taken their blinders off on the medical evidence about the abortion/breast cancer link, because the abortion risk denial is still part of their website!
- Instead, a Komen spokeswoman said Planned Parenthood, which is under Congressional investigation, has become ineligible due to a new Komen policy on denying funds to entities in legal trouble; other sources say Komen has nixed pass-thru grants, the kind Planned Parenthood was accustomed to receiving. (see this article).
Yes, it is great that Planned Parenthood’s undeserved veneer of respectability is crumbling, not only by the desertion of Komen, but through the LiveAction undercover exposes buttressing state and federal actions to defund the abortion giant. But if you thank Komen (email@example.com), do not forget to tell them to ‘fess up about the “ABC” (abortion-breast cancer) link.
In Kansas, we found no evidence of any Komen money going to the Planned Parenthood of Kansas & Mid-Missouri, which itself is still in the middle of long-drawn-out criminal investigation –hampered by abortion influence over the state Supreme Court and evidence shredding from the former Sebelius administration.
KFL LEADS ON “ABC” LINK
Kansans for Life has been leading the charge for over 15 years on unshackling medical information about the breast cancer biological story. In 1997, our Woman’s Right to Know Act created the first state warning of the ABC link, although in a guarded way, in the informed consent materials required to be accessed by every woman seeking a Kansas abortion.
In 2009, the warning was shockingly changed to a denial taken from the National Cancer Institute website, whose head of hormonal research, Louise Brinton has denied the link while footnoting its existence in a study she co-authored. KDHE altered the ABC denial last July, but with a hopelessly abortion-corrupted federal medical bureaucracy as their guide, they need a legislative mandate to strengthen the information.
The new Pro-life Protections Act, introduced in the House Federal-State Affairs committee Tuesday as HB 2598, will require truthful information about the ABC risk. To that end, top-rated New Jersey breast surgeon, Dr. Angela Lanfranchi, is coming to Kansas to instruct students and legislators about the repressed medical truth, which can no longer said to be a debate of studies. Lanfranchi heads the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute and has testified as a medical expert for lawsuits on this subject. Learn more about the science here.
