PP newsletter touts party w/ Sebelius

HHS head Kathleen Sebelius is in hot water on 2 fronts: health care conscience rights and funding for Planned Parenthood.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s oversight panel wants Sebelius to justify funding abortion giant Planned Parenthood after it’s been caught red-handed –repeatedly–in the despicable act of aiding and abetting sex trafficking and prostitution of girls as young as 14.

Congressman Mike Pence has introduced legislation that would yank PP’s Title X family planning money, but he told the Times he will go further and introduce an amendment to cut all federal funding to PP.

Congress can’t possibly expect any honest help defunding Planned Parenthood from Sebelius, with a long history of collaborating with abortion interests.

In 2006, Sebelius & PP President Cecile Richards teamed up to (more…)

Douglas Johnson: fed law "abortion truth-detector"

Under Obamacare, states were supposed to start setting up insurance health “exchanges” by January 2013.

Individual states were to be allowed to keep abortion out of their state exchange, and Kansas lawmakers have prepared legislation to insure our future exchange would be abortion-free.

Even then, Kansas taxpayers would be paying for abortions in other state insurance exchanges.

To prevent that, NRLC federal legislation director, Douglas Johnson, testified Wednesday to a House Subcommittee that the “Protect Life Act” (H.R. 358) will correct Obamacare direct abortion subsidies, as well as provisions for abortion-expanding administrative mandates.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee passed the “Protect Life Act” out of committee on Friday.

Johnson, has been the truth detector on Obamacare, blowing the whistle on how its first implementation– insurance coverage for pre-existing conditions– paid for abortions. (HHS later removed that coverage, which can be reversed anytime.)

But two recent developments present significant obstacles to the entire Obamacare law!

  1. A ruling for a lawsuit on behalf of 26 states (including Kansas) by Judge Roger Vinson said the entire Obamacare program must be scrapped because the mandate to buy insurance is unconstitutional and there’s no severability clause to save the rest. Utah has now decided it is not bound by Obamacare.
  2. Gov. Sam Brownback and 19 other governors have sent a letter this week to HHS warning they may ignore the exchange mandate.  This move affects millions of dollars in “innovation” grants that Kansas’ (pro-abortion) Insurance Commissioner Sandi Praeger was deeply involved in.

This afternoon, the House Federal State Affairs committee passed the Abortion Reporting Accuracy and Parental Rights Act, HB 2035.

Committee members Judith Loganbill (D-Wichita), Sean Gatewood (D-Topeka) and Ponca-We Victors (D-Wichita) voted against passage with 2 other abortion-supporting committee members absent.

The Abortion Reporting Accuracy and Parental Rights Act (HB 2035 content and sponsors here) reflects that parents should be counseling and protecting their underage pregnant daughters, especially in light of yet another undercover expose of Planned Parenthood abortion clinic staff (audio only):

With yet more proof of the outrageous behavior inside clinics toward underage pregnant girls, committee passage of a stronger parental involvement bill was a no-brainer.

An identical bill has been filed in the Senate, SB 146, by Senators Mark Taddiken (R- Clifton) and Terry Bruce (R-Hutchinson). See bill content and Senate co-sponsor list here.

Under HB 2035/SB 146, if minors apply to court to bypass their parents, the judge in the proceeding should

  • use a strong standard of “clear & convincing” evidence;
  • prepare an adequate court record of why the girl is circumventing her parents;
  • be allowed to order counseling for the minor;
  • be required to inform authorities if abuse is suspected.

HB 2035/SB 146, the Abortion Reporting Accuracy and Parental Rights Act, also governs the reporting of late abortions with provisions that were vetoed 3 times by abortion-supporting past governors Kathleen Sebelius and Mark Parkinson.

Lifenews.com reports that the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the nation’s biggest abortion business, is now backtracking on its initial claims that their employees acted appropriately.

Because  the abortion centers ignored potentially illegal activities and did not immediately report them to authorities, PP said Monday it would retrain thousands of staff people across the country in the proper procedures for dealing with sex traffickers in the future. The abortion business also said it would fire any staffers violating those procedures.

Videos from undercover investigations at six PP facilities in three states, so far, have shown their employees

  • helping sex traffickers obtain abortions for the underage girls,
  • guiding them in covering up their activities, and
  • offering insurance -paid services through tax payer funded programs even if the underage girls are not U.S. citizens.

PP staff in New York tell the undercover “pimp” he can pose as a guardian to get discounts for his underage sex workers. The abortion center staff assure him they will  see underage girls as young as 13 who have been victimized by the sex traffickers.

As is the case in the previous videos, the sex ring operator asks specifically about services, including abortion, for underage girls who don’t speak English and who are engaged in “sex work.”

Throughout the footage, Planned Parenthood staff insist that the services and discussions are confidential (more…)

In Kansas, state tax money is joined with Federal tax money to pay for the “Title 10 family planning” program.

UPDATE, Feb.10: new move to defund ALL Title 10 money

Anyone– including minors— can get “health” services under Title 10, although it is technically targeted for low-income persons.  (That’s one reason, in the recent video sting of a NJ Planned Parenthood facility, you saw the clinic manager tell the pimp to have his workers say they are students– insuring Title 10 reimbursement.)

Title 10 is not supposed to pay for abortion. It does cover

  • family planning (birth control pills/injections),
  • “related” services like pelvic exams,
  • testing for STDs (sexually transmitted diseases),
  • staff training in these matters,
  • data collection/ research, and
  • information dissemination and community education.

Local Kansas health clinics and Planned Parenthood (PP) businesses are both eligible to get some of this money, but for decades, PP got  all it wanted first.  The check was even mailed to PP headquarters in Overland Park, (which commits thousands of abortions each year) and then supposedly distributed to the PP “family planning” offices in Hays, Wichita and Lawrence (now closed).

UPDATE, Feb.8: This afternoon, Rep. Lance Kinzer (R-Olathe) offered a ‘defund Planned Parenthood’ amendment to the current 2010/11 budget such that any Title 10 moneys yet to be utilized, go to local health clinics, not PP. The amendment passed the House 91-26.  (more…)

How many million females betrayed by PP?

It was predictable that the release this week of damning evidence inside Planned Parenthood clinics would witness abortion supporters attacking the videos’ creator, LiveAction films.  (As if any motivation of the videographers could create behavior in PP employees!)

The 5 new undercover stings all present self-described sex traffickers who sought and received PP’s help in the demeaning and illegal commodification of young girls.

Can anyone doubt that hundreds of thousands of sex slaves world-wide actually are betrayed when they are brought through “health” facilities and recycled back into service?

But Media Matters, NPR, and other mainstream media are not only trying to help PP hold onto an undeserved positive image and tax funding, they are displaying a breath-taking lack of compassion for the victims of sex commerce.

Annual KFL Rally for Life

Kansas physician, Mila Means– who works at the Kansas City, Kansas abortion clinic, Aid for Women–is being sued by the landlord of her Wichita medical office, because she plans to begin doing abortions there.

Abortion is not only immoral, it makes a lousy business neighbor.  The landlord’s suit complains that Means’ intended abortion business is driving out other tenants.

According to the Associated Press, Foliage Development seeks a temporary restraining order to keep Means from performing abortions at its office complex in Wichita. A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 15.

But while the AP reporter got those facts correct, she ignored specific written info and a phone conversation that proved no malice afoot in the selection of a location for a peaceful prayer meeting scheduled for Friday night, Feb.4.

The facts are that Kansans for Life had contracted for any available east-central venue from the Wichita school district rental services.  It was a bureaucrat (whom KFL named to the press) who chose the specific public school location near where George Tiller was murdered. (more…)
