Sebelius caught lying to seniors again about Medicare

As governor, Kathleen Sebelius was never challenged by the media about her abortion funding or her dishonesty in EVERY veto message of pro-life bills.

Now, Sebelius continues to lie about Obamacare to select audiences and only U.S. Senators Pat Roberts (R-KS) (see past posts here and here) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) –not the press—are holding her feet to the fire.

NRLC’s Powell Center blog and Politico chronicled Sen. Grassley’s scolding of Sebelius’ bold misstatements to a Florida AARP gathering this month, as caught on the HHS website.

Sebelius’ speech said, “there will be more Medicare Advantage plans to choose from.”  The web version was corrected twice, after Sen. Grassley challenged her with the facts.

Grassley had written Sebelius, “I find it particularly troubling that the section of your speech dedicated to setting the record straight …contains substantial misinformation and omissions.

Health care “Empress” Sebelius dishonest about rationing

It is becoming more evident that Obamacare will ration health treatment and Kathleen Sebelius –with breath-taking powers as HHS head in the reform provisions — is misleading the public about rationing and her support for it.

Sebelius would not respond Thursday to media questions about the expressed affinity for health rationing by the new nominee to run Medicare and Medicaid, Donald Berwick. She instead praised him, although Berwick has spoken favorably about Britain’s notoriously rationed government-run health system.

A 2002 article Berwick co-wrote on end-of-life care said, “Most people who have serious pain do not need advanced methods; they just need the morphine and counseling that have been available for centuries. Last June, Berwick said,

“The decision is not whether or not we will ration care–the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open”

And last week, Sebelius was excoriated by Kansas lawmakers for her politicized mailer to seniors asserting a glowing outlook

Euthanasia elites fail to undermine Palin’s death panel warnings

The popular online science and policy digest MercatorNet published opposing editorials on end of life care today.

The pro-rationing piece was authored by bioethicist Summer Johnson, and approved by Kansas Board of Healing Arts member, Myra Christopher, who heads the sophisticated euthanasia movement at the Center for Practical Bioethics in Kansas City, Missouri.
